About Autodesk’s Involvement

Autodesk opened its Generative Design Field Lab on MxD’s Factory Floor in 2019

The Field Lab is a place where companies learn about technology and have the opportunity to experience the full portfolio of Autodesk engineering solutions.

Taking center stage is Fusion 360 and generative design which helps drive design exploration by leveraging artificial intelligence combined with cloud computing power and returning results of designs that never would have been thought of via traditional design processes and tools.

Factory Floor

MxD’s 22,000-square-foot research factory is used to test and demonstrate new technology; train the workforce on these new systems and tools; and demonstrate the need for cybersecurity in manufacturing.

The Autodesk station demonstrates generative design, which turns the design process on its head. Using artificial intelligence, Autodesk software recommends hundreds of designs from which the engineer can choose to make a prototype.

“MxD as an industry hub in the Midwest was an ideal place to open the Autodesk Generative Design Field Lab. In Chicago we feel we are a part of the local community, and we have a place where MxD partners, customers, and companies can experience the Autodesk technology.”
