On February 21, 2019, five years after it was launched by the U.S. Department of Defense, DMDII (now known as MxD) announced additional DoD funding of $10 million in 2019 with a new five-year contract of up to $60 million.
Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth, Governor J.B. Pritzker, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Rep. Haley Stevens, Dep. Mayor Bob Rivkin, and dozens of partners and supporters were in attendance at a press conference to share the news.
